2011 String Award
2011 String Award Winner, Alina Spiegel
Alina Spiegel, a senior honor student at Parkland High School, currently studies violin with Inna Eyzerovich since 2006. She has been studying the violin for 9 years, the piano for 13 years, and classical voice for 3 years.
As a very active member of Parkland High School’s music department, Alina serves as Orchestra president and participates in the Orchestra, Honors Chamber Orchestra, Strolling Strings, Concert Choir, and Chorale. Her musical skills earned her the position of co-concertmistress of the Young People’s Philharmonic of the Lehigh Valley and also qualified her for Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 10, Region IV/V, and All-State Orchestras, as well as District 10 and Region V Choruses. She also was chosen to perform in the orchestra of the 2011 MENC: National Association of Music Education Eastern Division Honors Ensemble to be held in Morgan State University Auditorium on Sunday, April 3, 2011, in Baltimore, Maryland.
Academically, Alina advanced to National Merit Finalist and serves as a debate team captain, recording secretary of the Parkland chapter of the National Honor Society, and co-secretary of Math League. She also enjoys participating in Odyssey of the Mind, Model UN, and theater.
Alina will begin college study next fall and plans to major in chemistry while auditioning for music ensembles on campus.
