2013 String Award Winner, Marcus Speigel

Marcus Speigel receives award from Dan Rambo, club president.

Marcus Spiegel, a senior honor student at Parkland High School, currently studies violin with Inna Eyzerovich since 2006 and piano with Grace Mealey since 2003. He began studying the violin 8 years ago and piano 13 years ago.

        Marcus serves as the president of the Parkland Orchestra along with participating in the Orchestra, Honors Chamber Orchestra, and Strolling Strings. He played in the pit orchestras for Parkland’s productions of Aida, Hello Dolly, and Phantom of the Opera. His musical skills earned him the position of concertmaster of the Young People’s Philharmonic of the Lehigh Valley during the 2012-2013 season. Marcus also performed with the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 10, Region IV/V, and All-State Orchestras.

        Academically, Marcus advanced to National Merit Finalist and achieved the status of an AP Scholar with Distinction. He serves as captain of the Debate Team and Scholastic Scrimmage Team along with serving as president of the Parkland chapter of the National Honor Society and Math League. He also enjoys participating on the Chess Team and Varsity Tennis Team.

        Marcus will attend Princeton University next fall, where he plans to major in engineering while remaining active in music on campus.
