2025 (Seventh) Winner of Dr. Albert Hofammann Scholarship for Young Pianists
Grace Zhang, a junior at Parkland High School, devoted the past nine years to studying piano under the guidance of Holly Roadfeldt. She launched her musical journey in elementary school with piano and clarinet, fueling a passion that soared. In middle school, she rose to first-chair clarinetist in both Jazz Band and Concert Band, and by high school, she added double bass to her repertoire, performed with her school’s orchestra, and served as a sought-after piano accompanist. Grace showcases her talents through choral collaborations, most notably during her performance at the Pennsylvania State Capitol Building in Harrisburg. For two years, she accompanied the Luther Crest Senior Choir and continues to support her local church as a dedicated choir accompanist.
Outside the rehearsal room, Grace emerges as an unstoppable force in community service and leadership. As a co-candidate in the 2025 Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Student Visionaries of the Year program, she played a key role raising nearly $25,000 for blood cancer research. She also volunteers at St. Luke’s, reflecting her aspiration to pursue a career in medicine. At school, she excels as a formidable rebutter on the varsity debate team, co-presides over the Asian Language and Culture Club, and competes as a dedicated member of the varsity swim team. Grace’s enthusiasm, dedication, and drive—whether in music, academics, or service—inspire everyone around her and cement her reputation as an accomplished young leader.
