2022 Winner - Piano Scholarship

2021 (Fourth) Winner of Dr. Albert Hofammann Scholarship for Young Pianists

Evangelyn (Engie) Shen (2006) is a sophomore at Parkland High School and studied piano with her mom, Cindy Liang, for eleven years.

In 2014, at the age of 8, she made her New York debut winning 2nd place in the Golden Key Festival performing at Well Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall.

Two years later, Engie was the youngest performer to be chosen at the 2016 Grand Prix Winner of the Concert Festival International Concerto Competition performing the Hayden keyboard Concerto in C Major with an Orchestra in Port Washington, New York. She also placed top 10 of the Grieg Lyrical Pieces Competition.

For the past ten years she earned the highest ranking in the Achievement Award Audition with the Lehigh Valley Music Teachers Association. As the recent member of the Young Musician of the Allentown Music Club and the 2019 winner of the Summer Music Camp Scholarship, she was invited to play for the 93rd Annual Philadelphia District Conference of the Pennsylvania Federation of Music Clubs. The Friends of Music chose her as 2021 first place winner of the Outstanding Young Artists competition.

Besides piano, Engie also played percussion for her school band and performed the bells parts in PMEA. Her love for music inspires her to figure skate competitively, too.
